Female Incontinence Surgery

1 in 2 women experience urinary leakage, we can help.

Treatment

Bulkamid
This is a urethral bulking agent used to treat stress urinary incontinence. It is a water-based gel which remains in the body over time without causing reactions in the surrounding tissue. The procedure consists of 4 injections into the wall of the urethra, adding volume to the wall of the urethra in order to prevent urine from leaking out of the bladder during normal daily activities.

Why Bulkamid?
Many women opt for this treatment for their incontinence over invasive surgery because the procedure is minimally invasive, can be done under local anesthetic, usually takes around 10-15 minutes and there is a short recovery time along with less risk of serious complications. The majority of women are able to resume normal daily activities within 24 hours.

Mid Urethral sling (MUS) surgery
A synthetic material that is inserted through a small incision in the vaginal wall that act as a hammock of support under the urethra. This minimally invasive procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes 30-60 minutes.

Why chose a sling?
MUS is a more robust treatment option for moderate to severe incontinence with the goal of letting you take back control and start enjoying a social life again.

This is an outpatient surgery which will only take a few days to recover from. You will be asked to limit your heavy lifting for 2-4 weeks and will need to refrain from intravaginal intercourse for 4 weeks.
