MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY
Surgeons at Augusta Urology Associates use minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy and robotic-assisted laparoscopy to treat many urologic conditions. Some patients with benign or malignant disease processes involving the kidneys, prostate, ureters, bladder, or adrenal glands are candidates for procedures to remove or reconstruct a portion of the genitourinary system using conventional laparoscopic or robotic-assisted platforms. Removal of all or part of an affected kidney (radical or partial nephrectomy), removal of the prostate (radical prostatectomy), reconstruction of an obstructed drainage system of a kidney (pyeloplasty, ureteroureterostomy, or ureteral reimplantation) and removal of a diseased adrenal gland are procedures performed by our surgeons using minimally invasive techniques to achieve results equal to those of traditional open surgery.
